Teachers Must Stay in Station from February 10: DSEK Directive

The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), G N Itoo, announced on Friday that all teachers must remain at their designated locations starting February 10, 2025.

According to the directive, teachers are not required to report to any district or zonal office on February 10 but must ensure they are not away from their stations. "Teachers should be available on call as their services might be needed at any time. They must not be out of station," G N Itoo stated in an interview with *Greater Kashmir*.

This clarification comes in response to widespread confusion among teachers about whether they need to be present at district headquarters. Earlier, the education department had instructed teachers to be at their district headquarters from February 10, even though schools are scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2025.

"Teachers are not required to report to any office, but they must stay at their respective stations in preparation for examinations," G N Itoo explained.

The confusion arose after some district and zonal officials reportedly told teachers to return to schools on February 10. The Director’s latest statement aims to resolve this issue, emphasizing that teachers only need to remain at their stations and be ready for any official duties.

The directive is intended to ensure smooth preparations for the upcoming academic and examination schedules while keeping teachers accessible for any urgent tasks.(GK)
