Following the hottest day of the season, Kashmir experienced a noticeable drop in temperature on Tuesday, with fresh snowfall reported in higher altitudes and rain showers across the plains.
As per Kashmir News Observer (KNO), areas like Sinthan Top witnessed fresh snow today, while widespread rainfall cooled down the region. Srinagar saw a 4°C drop from Monday's high, settling at 24.4°C today.
Notably, Srinagar had recorded a temperature of 28.2°C on Monday — 9.4°C above the seasonal average.
Cloudy skies and afternoon rain dominated the day across Kashmir.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for tomorrow, forecasting isolated thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) across Jammu and Kashmir.
Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, stated that light rain and snow (over higher elevations) are expected intermittently over the next two days in many areas of Kashmir and some parts of Jammu, along with occasional thunderstorms and gusty winds.
He further mentioned that light precipitation might occur in the morning of April 11, followed by improved conditions. From April 12 to 17, dry weather is expected, while fresh rain and snow are likely between April 18 and 20.
Meanwhile, tourists, travelers, and transporters have been advised to follow official travel guidelines, and farmers are urged to pause agricultural activities for the next two days.
