The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for fresh admissions and re-registration for the January 2025 session until March 31, 2025. This extension applies to all Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes, except for semester-based and certificate courses.
As part of its commitment to accessible education, IGNOU has introduced Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in various subjects, including Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Hindi, Urdu, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and more. Students can choose from multiple study centres, which are available in almost all Government Degree Colleges across Kashmir Valley, as well as SKIMS, NIELIT, CRC Srinagar, Kashmir University, and the UTs of Ladakh & Kargil. A special study centre at IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar offers exclusive programmes not available elsewhere.
For IT-based courses such as BCA, MCA, and MSc (Information Security), NIELIT Srinagar serves as a key study centre. Beyond academics, NIELIT also provides mentorship and training for students interested in IT and electronics entrepreneurship.
The deadline for re-registration for existing students has also been extended until March 31, 2025, with a late fee of ₹200. Learners are encouraged to complete their re-registration on time to avoid last-minute issues.
Dr. A. H. Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU Srinagar, emphasized the university’s commitment to providing quality and flexible education across Kashmir and Ladakh. He urged students to take advantage of this extension and enroll without delay.
