National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2024-25: Applications Invited for Class VIII Students in Jammu and Kashmir


 

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released an official notification inviting applications for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2024-25. Eligible Class VIII students across the Jammu/Kashmir Divisions are encouraged to apply for this prestigious scholarship aimed at supporting economically weaker yet meritorious students.


Eligibility Criteria:

1. Class Enrollment: Students must currently be enrolled in Class VIII for the academic session 2024-25 in schools located in Jammu and Kashmir Division.

2. Minimum Academic Requirement:

Students must have secured at least 55% marks in Class VII.

A relaxation of 5% is provided for SC/ST students.

3. Type of School: The student must be studying in a Government, Government-aided, or Local Body School only.

4. Annual Family Income: The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹3.5 lakh.

5. Reservation: Seats will be reserved as per the Union Territory’s policy on reservations for Jammu and Kashmir.

6. Domicile: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir.


Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship will support selected students financially over a period of four years, from Class IX to Class XII.

Annual Scholarship Amount: ₹12,000 per annum (₹1,000 per month).

Total Scholarship Value: ₹48,000 for the four-year period.


Examination Details:

To avail of the scholarship, students must clear two compulsory tests with the required minimum marks:


1. Mental Ability Test (MAT)

Number of Questions: 90

Maximum Marks: 90

Duration: 90 minutes


2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Number of Questions: 90

Maximum Marks: 90

Duration: 90 minutes


Minimum Passing Marks: Students need to secure 40% aggregate marks in both tests combined.

For SC/ST students, the passing cutoff is 32%.


Note: Children with special needs will be given additional time as per the rules.


Important Instructions for Students:


1. Applicants must submit their forms offline in the prescribed format available on the JKBOSE website (www.jkbose.nic.in).

2. Application forms must be duly attested by the Head of the Institution and accompanied by:


Class VII marks certificate

Income certificate

Category certificate (if applicable)

A pay-in-slip of ₹60.00 (to be deposited in the JK Bank Account No. 0547010100000002, Branch: JKBOSE, Bemina, Srinagar. IFSC: JAKA0EXAMBR).



Submission Deadline:


Completed application forms must be submitted to the Concerned Chief Education Officer (Designated District Nodal Officer for NMMSS) on or before 20th January 2025.


Number of Scholarships:


A total of 1,068 scholarships will be awarded to students based on merit and eligibility.

Additional Information:

District Education Officers will process and submit all application forms to the respective JKBOSE offices (CDR Wing, Bemina, Srinagar / Rehari Colony, Jammu) within seven days after the closing date.
