The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, has issued a circular granting a one-time age relaxation for admissions to Class 1 for the academic session 2024-25. This decision, conveyed through Administrative Department instructions, aims to address the academic interests of young students.
According to the circular, children who will attain the age of 6 years by September 2024 will be eligible for admission to Class 1. This six-month age relaxation ensures that students who might otherwise miss the cutoff date can enroll in the upcoming session. The circular emphasizes that this relaxation is a one-time exception and will apply solely to the 2024-25 academic session.
Heads of all educational institutions, including government and recognized private schools, have been directed to strictly adhere to these guidelines.
This move is seen as a step toward accommodating more students and addressing developmental concerns related to early education in the region.
Dr. Tassaduq Hussain (JKAS), Director of School Education, Kashmir, undersigned the circular, urging all concerned officials and institutions to ensure its implementation.
