Education Minister Voices Concern Over Lack of Appointments and Compensation
Srinagar:Shortly after the formation of the new government, officials have expressed concerns regarding families and individuals who donated land for building schools but have yet to receive any appointments or compensation.
In response, Education Minister Sakina Itoo has instructed relevant authorities to compile a list of such cases within a week.
As per the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), during a review meeting with the School Education Department, the minister directed the Directors of School Education for both the Jammu and Kashmir regions to promptly prepare and submit these lists.
"It has come to my attention that some families have donated their land for school construction, yet no appointments or compensation have been provided to them," the minister stated.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the lists should be compiled urgently and submitted within one week.
Meanwhile, KNO highlighted that despite the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, which provides significant benefits to government employees, thousands of Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) in the School Education Department are still receiving meager monthly salaries ranging between Rs 25 to 500. Notably, many of these CPWs are the same individuals who donated their land to the department, with the promise of a secure job in return— a promise allegedly made by the previous government.
