Kulangam Bridge Closure for Repair, Traffic Diverted in Kupwara and Baramulla


 Handwara, October 2, 2024: In light of necessary repairs to the approach slab on the Handwara side of the Kulangam Bridge, the Executive Magistrate of Handwara has announced a temporary closure of the bridge for vehicular traffic. The closure will be in effect for one week, starting from October 3, 2024, as per an official order issued by Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan Khan (JKAS).


The bridge, located at KM 30.97 on the Baramulla-Kupwara-Chowkibal road, will undergo repairs conducted by the 99 Road Construction Company (GREF), as confirmed in their letter dated October 2, 2024.


Traffic Diversion Routes:


- Kupwara to Baramulla: Vehicles traveling from Kupwara to Baramulla will be diverted via Vadpora, passing through Waripora Gonipora-Talri Bridge and heading towards Handwara’s Main Chowk, before proceeding on the Baramulla road.

- Baramulla to Kupwara: Traffic moving from Baramulla to Kupwara will be rerouted through Chotipora, continuing to Vadpora Bridge via Handwara’s Main Chowk and Waripora Gonipora.


Authorities have advised commuters to follow the diversion plan to avoid any disruptions. Local law enforcement, including the Handwara police, has been directed to ensure smooth implementation of traffic arrangements and avoid any inconvenience to the public. Additionally, ARTO Kupwara will provide assistance to ensure compliance with the order.



Residents and regular commuters between Kupwara and Baramulla are urged to plan their travel accordingly during this period to minimize delays.
