Change in School Timings Due to Ongoing Heatwave

In response to the ongoing heatwave, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir's Directorate of School Education has issued a new directive changing the school timings for all Government and Recognized Private Schools up to the Higher Secondary level in the Kashmir Division.

This decision comes after several representations from parents and other stakeholders expressing concern over the extreme weather conditions affecting students.

Effective immediately, classes will commence from 8:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM in both rural and urban areas. This adjustment aims to mitigate the adverse effects of the heatwave on students and ensure their safety and well-being. Teaching and non-teaching staff are also required to adjust their schedules accordingly, with their duties extending from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This arrangement will continue until 10th August 2024. The directive underscores the commitment of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir to prioritize the health and comfort of students during this period of extreme weather.

For further information, the Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department, Deputy Commissioners, and other relevant officials have been duly notified. The Chief Education Officers in all districts are also informed to ensure the effective implementation of this order.
