Srinagar experienced heavy rainfall recently, with the meteorological department forecasting additional showers in the coming days. According to a department official, the following rainfall amounts were recorded in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am today:
- Srinagar: 4.5 mm
- Qazigund: 10.2 mm
- Pahalgam: 20.8 mm
- Kupwara: 15.1 mm
- Kokernag: 9.8 mm
- Gulmarg: 8.6 mm
- Jammu: 2.3 mm
- Banihal: 2.3 mm
- Batote: 22.8 mm
- Katra: 4.6 mm
- Bhadarwah: 16.4 mm
The department's forecast includes light to moderate rain or light snow (at higher altitudes) across most areas. Thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds are also possible in a few places, with the likelihood of heavy rain in isolated areas until April 29.
From April 29-30, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy with scattered light rain and thunder.
Dry weather is anticipated from May 1-5. As for temperatures, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 10.5°C, which is 1.2°C above the normal temperature for this time of year. Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, and Kupwara also experienced variations in minimum temperatures compared to the previous night. Meanwhile, Gulmarg, Jammu, Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah reported their respective lows.
