Srinagar has seen rain while Gulmarg has recorded -4.8 degrees Celsius after the fresh snowfall of 22cm
Srinagar, Mar 14 (GNS): The Meteorological Department predicts another wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir from March 22-24 as rains drench plains and higher reaches, with Gulmarg receiving fresh snowfall.
A meteorological department official says dry weather will prevail till March 20.
In the preceding twenty-four hours ending at this morning’s eight-thirty a.m., the plain areas received rainfall (09.1mm in Srinagar, 24.6mm in Qazigund, Pahalgam –15.6 mm (3 cm of snow), Kupwara-14.9mm, Kokernag-18.1mm and 22 cms of fresh snow at Gulmarg).
Most places had much lower temperatures than before with Srinagar minimum at 4.4°C; that is above normal by 0.7°c for this time of the year.
For example Qazigund was at its lowest temperature since minus one point eight degrees Celsius while Pahalgam was one point three degrees below zero , Kokernag was one point three degrees Celsius and Kupwara stood at minis one point two degree Celsius besides Gulmarg where it had gone down to minus four point eight degrees Celsius.
Jammu settled at a minimum temperature of thirteen point five degree centigrade as Banihal stood at three point zero degree centigrade; Batote registered two point two degree centigrade and Bhaderwah closed the list with three point six degree centigrade lows.
